Topic: Seedcamp Week / August 25th - Bank Holiday? Just a quick question. In terms of noticification, the 25th is a UK Bank Holiday. Will the short list candiates still find out on that day? Also, how should we the candiates expect to find out? E-mail? Telephone? All the best Richard Healy |

Topic: General / Y Combinator To Offer Standardized Funding Legal Docs Yep, we have been looking into doing this as well. We had a pretty standard document that all the Seedcamp companies used last year. We will provide something here. |

Topic: General / Y Combinator To Offer Standardized Funding Legal Docs I think this is awesome seeing this coming from Paul Graham. This is something we have been working on within P2PVenture for the French context for a while. I believe Seedcamp is in the best position to initiate an analog initiative at the European level for reference documents written in English, or at least for legal documents applicable in the UK. I would be happy to cooperate and I already know some barristers who could give a hand. Frederic |

Topic: General Startup news/thoughts / finding a co-founder/financier RE: ABOUT OPPORT LABS OPPORT LAB Project is an integration of various innovative schemes that I’ve been developing in the past three months. It unveils new and strategic solutions in different lines of business including the tech sector for 2008 and beyond. It consists of 3 main areas with innovations in ie. 1.on climate change(software and forum) 2.IT: Web search entertainment, encryption, antipiracy, IPs and many other solutions. 3. And also the Expansion series. A document within which I stress several business models and enhancements based on how certain businesses can expand into the future and also on how to gain a durable competitive advantage over rivals. With the fast-paced and ever-evolving technological landscape, the optimal timeframe(6 mos to 1yr) of the development of the project to the broad mar is critical to it’s success, and it is therefore with this pace that an initial investment of about 1.5 million US Dollars is required for; processing(patents, registrations, and other legal implementations)as well as working group integration, research, lab engagtemets(development timescales, application testing, database migration etc.) and other pertinent processes for this project. The solutions within this project are all future oriented and thus every entity therein are not only perceived for what they are now, but also the growth-potential therein. My inspiration is really from the consumer’s needs and also driven by the timeless marketing principle that “ consumers buy solutions and not products” and so I’m always aware, responsive and devising solutions for both consumers and equally important the environment. My passion is success and every thing it brings, I think it is just a priceless asset. The technology and climate solution space will definitely be major drivers of the global economic landscape in 2008 stemming profit-growth and sustenability.name: Mr Mwiche simwanza email: confirmedbiz@hotmail.com phone: +260977882974 |

Topic: Seedcamp Week / What's the count? The short answer is that we don’t want to fixate on the numbers alone – and that applies internally and externally. They’re useful to get a comparative sense of a few things of course, but if we choose the wrong targets we’ll get the wrong results, and the last thing we want is a competition that emphasizes quantity over quality. Of course the rebuttal to this argument is “well if the numbers are almost meaningless then why not share them?” – the hard truth is that, even with repeated caveats about how they don’t matter, if we do share them there will be inevitable comparisons year after year. People love statistics (myself included) and just having them around can be distracting. |

Topic: General / Founder criteria Hi Martin- Yes, it’s still possible to apply. Without reviewing your application I can’t tell you if it’s slightly outside the typical Seedcamp grounds, but if it has the potential to be a big ideal with very little initial capital and involves heavily leveraging technology I’d say go for it. -Michael |

Topic: General / Additional help for non native English speakers. Hi Bostjan- Target market: we’re looking to see the group of users and/or customers for whom you’re building your idea, and why they’re not getting what they want or need today. For example, Flickr might say they’re looking at the online photo-sharing market, and all the existing photo sites don’t allow simple sharing of albums without forcing users to complete an onerous registration process. Customer need: here you should put the specific problem your business is trying to address, which is usually tied to the “target market” question. For example, Ebay would mention that local auction markets aren’t offering buyers and sellers the broadest possible base with whom to exchange goods. Of course both those examples are extremely simplified – when answering you should be a little more thorough ;) Let me know if this doesn’t help. -Michael |

Topic: General / Urgent: improve your Seedcamp application I’m neither an applicant nor involved in the organization, but this seems like a very good idea. I think it could even come as a standard option for similar events to have a way of pooling applicants so that they can benefit from each other insights and maybe even pool resources in applying. Topic: General / Urgent: improve your Seedcamp application Hi Seedcamp applicants: By now you are likely to have written your application and maybe taking a last glance over it to make sure it has no spelling or grammar mistakes, good style, coherency etc.. The application format with many questions rather than one single business presentation offers some challenges. It is for example possible to get absorbed in details without showing a coherent picture about the business. That is big problem as the selection committee is taking a decision solely on what is written. Your business might be great but if your application sucks you will not get a spot in this years seedcamp. So we should check our applications twice. But we might not notice things in our own applications that we would immediately notice in someone else’s. Thus I propose this to you: I will read your application and correct for spelling, grammar style and give suggestion about the content if you do the same for our application. There are over 400 applications so the chance that either one of us gets on spot # 20 and the other only 21, thus not being selected is minimal. So lets join forces and submit a winning application!
